Nicholas Low papers, 1781-1857.

This collection consists primarily of correspondence written to Nicholas Low, a New York merchant, and to his business, Low & Wallace. Also included are other contemporary business and personal letters, including original handwritten letters and handwritten copies between other parties. An 1811 printed form announcement from Audubon & Bakewell of New Orleans is included, in English and French, with the autograph of John James Audubon. Emphasized in the collection is commerce between New Orleans and New York; other places named in the collection include Havana, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Correspondents include also Juan Baptiste Macarty, Robert Smith, Thomas McIntire, Bernard Lintot, J. Girault, Evan Jones, James Jones, John Foley, Jeronimo La Chiapella, and George Wilkins.
